Some women complain about headaches when their hair is mid-back length. What about those who have had extremely long hair all their life and never complained about it? Is it just an excuse to cut the hair?

I don't think that long hair can cause headaches. My hair was past my butt when I injured my neck. I told my doctor I was going to cut my hair, and he told me not to. My neck hurt so bad that I eventually had my hair cut to above my shoulders, but it didn't help my neck. My neck still hurts and my hair is still short 4 years later.

This is very true. I actually have several friends who have from mid back to almost knee length hair and they often complain of having headaches because of the weight. Though I myself have had lower back length hair and have never had any problems. I think it depends of the person and the length and weight of hair.
