If a woman has beautiful, thick, wavey hair and is tall, do you think she should wear it long? Long hair can be worn up and pulled back in so many fashionable styles. I am tired of people telling me I'm too old to keep my hair long. My hair is a light brown with blond highlights (no gray - yet).

It's your hair, do what you want.....If you keep it up and style nice I don't see the problem, I have a sister in her 40's that has super long hair, but she doesn't keep it up and it looks awful on her, she needs cut hers a little shorter, but if your up to the maintenance keep it!

As long as your hair isn't gray.. If you are in shape, dress nicely and take care of your hair and do creative things with it... (not always put it up in a pony tail ... then you are alright :)

Just to mid back is enough for anybody.. any longer is a waist really... thats any age. dont let people tell u ur age matters! hair grows ... u can leave it if u want but it causes neck aches the longer it is... causes back pain to comb .. and the older u are the more u will feel these things

What? I wonder why. My mom is about 44 and she has long wavy dark hair and it looks great. Everyone says my mom is hot or beautiful. I dont know why people would say that to you. I would tell them to stop worrying so much about you when they have there own hair they can complain about.

Personally I think it depends on the individual. For the most part longer hair makes a woman look older than they really are if they are past the age of 40. But if you one of those lucky few that look good than keep it long. I find that long hair kind of makes me look dumpy and old so I keep it shorter. So for me long hair doens't work.

People should not tell you what to do with your hair. I wish those kind of people would just keep their mouths shut.

I am a fan of long hair. I currently and always have worn my hair long- I think it's feminine. However, if one is to wear hair long, then they must maintain it and keep it neat and styled. I think it's great that you want to wear your hair long. Forty isn't old! You are still young and what better way to feel like a sexy woman than with long, thick and beautiful hair.

Well really it depends on your feature. If you're more heavy set then I suggest you wear it at least down to you shoulders. Skinnier people, however, look better with a shorter hair style.

Yes, I believe women over 40 should wear their hair long provided it is cut nicely and does not look like a mop hanging there and provided it is not an 80's hair do. The cut has to be shaped nicely and no blunt bangs either.

I hate it when women get their hair cut short. All it does it make one look older or older than they have to look.

Yes, I think its a great idea. My mom is a young 42, and she wears her hair long. She still looks great. But she would probably look just as good with a shorter sassier look. I think it is just whatever your style is.

It depends a lot on the shape and structure of your face...If you have a round, heart-shape, squarish or oblong face and a toned face (i.e. with not much wrinkles) I'd suggest u go for it.

If it make you feel good, keep your hair long, it will only help you in feeling young and good about yourself :-)

Your hair sounds beautiful... I don't see why women over 40 have to stop wearing long hair, if it suits you and you like it, then keep it that way. Don't listen to what people think, it's your hair and only you has to like it. Next time people criticise you for it, tell them that your happy with the way you are and you don't care what other people think. Yes. You are never too old to be beautiful. Many women cut it when it starts to show gray. I think that's a mistake too.

Long hair actually makes you look younger. They always want to cut older women's hair off so that they will "look their age". To heck with that!

Just take care of it, treat it well and it will treat you well. And don't always be afraid of greys. EmmyLou Harris is all grey with long hair and she is gorgeous! It makes her look so mysterious and confident.

I was told the same thing. Others say that if we cut our hair short older women will take years off. I haven't decided yet to cut my hair.

I have a cousin a year older than me, she had hair passed her shoulders and it was very thick and pretty, now she chopped it all off and she does look a little younger but she lost all that beautiful hair and can only wear her hair in 2-3 different styles.
